BIOGRAPHY

Andrea Nundy has a B.A (hons) degree in Dance Theatre and an M.A in Dance Movement Psychotherapy. Andrea has been working with dance and movement for 15 years both in a teaching and therapeutic capacity. Client areas are; prison inmates, specifically self harm addiction and mothers with babies, residential therapy for the elderly, domestic abuse with women and children, children with Autism in mainstream schools, and chronic mental health clients. Work opportunities in Europe encouraged Andrea to move to Prague last year, where she is currently a member of an expressive therapies team providing sessions for native Czechs with long term mental health issues. Andrea is a member of the DMP Faculty at the University of Latvia where she facilitates process groups for students on the DMP course, and contributing lecturer on the DMP course at Queen Margaret’s University in Edinburgh,. Presently she is working on research looking at DMP and depression, and running workshops in Prague to develop the DMP field in the Czech Republic

Research Assistant June 06 – present, Hertfordshire University, Hatfield, Herts

* Project; Opendance.
* Researching literature on traditional dance and European educational models and curriculums for teaching dance.
* Developing an E-learning program for teacher and students across Europe
* Working within a consortium; liaising via the net and at conferences with University of Aegean, University of Lithuania, Lyceum of Greek dance, Bulgarian dance organization, and English and Folk Dance Society.
* Project: Cochrane Review concerning Depression and DMP.
* Sourcing current literature for the study using various social science databases

Dance Movement Psychotherapist Jan 09 – Jul 09

* Working within a multi-disciplinary team
* Facilitating group DMP sessions for clients with long-term mental health issues. The clients are Czech natives.
* Working alongside psychiatrists and psychologists who provide as translation.

* Provided 1-1 support work for children within school who are experiencing learning or social difficulties

* Running therapy sessions for both women and children who have experienced domestic abuse.

* Wrote and developed 2 DMP Programmes, 1. An outreach project for children in the community who have had experience of domestic abuse. 2. A DMP programme for children within refuge. Duties involved;

I am currently living in Prague, in the Czech Republic where I have just started DMP work, and where I hope to develop a practice and make connections to the European network.

I am a registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist, and have a license to practice from the Association of Dance Movement Therapy, membership no: 0805

I have psychotherapeutic insurance and I am able and covered to work with both individuals and groups, and I have a current CRB. I have weekly personal therapy and monthly supervision
